Michigan Volunteers Earn National Recognition
Watkinsville, Ga. – Michigan members of the Quality Deer Management Association (QDMA) walked off with several national honors during the QDMA's 4 th annual Convention, held recently in Grand Rapids.
Individual honors went to Marsha McKee, who was named 2004 QDMA Volunteer of the Year, and Jeff Sturgis, honored with QDMA's 2004 Al Brothers Deer Manager of the Year Award.
In addition the Mid-Michigan Branch was honored for the second straight year as QDMA Branch of the Year.
“Our Michigan QDMA members have every reason to be very proud of their accomplishments,” said QDMA Executive Director Brian Murphy. “Marsha embodies the meaning of a true grassroots volunteer. She works tirelessly to support the goals and mission of the QDMA.
“Jeff has made a tremendous impact on a small tract of land in the Upper Peninsula through his adoption of Quality Deer Management principles. He is testament to the successes attainable even on small pieces of property.
“And the Mid-Michigan Branch continues to set an example for our Branches around the country in the number and diversity of ways our members can promote and support QDM and this association through a variety of public activities in their areas.”
