Pennsylvania Group Earns National Recognition

Watkinsville, Ga. – Members of the Quality Deer Management Association's (QDMA) North Mountain Branch in Dallas, Pa., walked off with the 2004 QDMA New Branch of the Year Award during the QDMA's 4 th annual Convention, held recently in Grand Rapids, Mich.

“This award is presented annually to the QDMA branch formed during the previous calendar year that has been most active and successful at promoting the philosophy of Quality Deer Management (QDM) and the mission of the QDMA,” said Brian Murphy, QDMA executive director.

In its first year, the North Mountain Branch held a half-dozen major public events involving QDM, among them a field day on food plots and a seminar on how to age whitetails. Members also operated a deer check station for the Pennsylvania Game Commission to collect harvest data. The branch's first banquet, held last March, attracted almost 200 people and netted more than $10,000.

“The North Mountain Branch is very deserving of this award,” Murphy said. “In particular, we at the QDMA thank Branch President Chip Sorber, Vice President and Banquet Chairman Dorne White and Secretary/Treasurer Dan Riley for their inspiration and commitment.”

The QDMA is a national non-profit wildlife conservation organization headquartered in Watkinsville, Ga. The QDMA's mission is to promote sustainable, high-quality, white-tailed deer populations, wildlife habitats, and ethical hunting experiences through education, research, and management in partnership with hunters, landowners, natural resource professionals and the public.

The QDMA is dedicated to ethical hunting, sound deer management and the preservation of the deer-hunting heritage. To learn more about the QDMA and how it can help your hunting, call (800) 209-DEER [(800) 209-3337] or visit www.qdma.com .
