QDMA Names Larry Tatom Southwest Regional Director

Watkinsville, Ga. – Larry M. Tatom of Cross Plains, Texas, has been named Southwest Regional Director for the Quality Deer Management Association. Tatom began his duties in this newly created QDMA region on April 25.

“All of us at QDMA welcome Larry to the QDMA staff,” said Gene Newman, Director of Branch Development. “Our Regional Directors are the QDMA in their respective regions because of their visibility and availability, and we welcome him to the staff during a very exciting time of growth for the association.”

Tatom will be responsible for forming and developing branches in Texas, Louisiana and western Oklahoma. QDMA branches host educational and fundraising events in their communities. Collectively, the three states are home to nearly 6,000 QDMA members.

Tatom is a 1976 graduate of Texas A&M University with a degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Management, and he brings nearly two decades of experience in grassroots development and fundraising for organizations dedicated to conservation and the outdoors.

Most notably, Tatom served 10 years as the South Texas Field Rep for the National Rifle Association, and seven years in Regional Director positions with Ducks Unlimited, serving West Texas and western Oklahoma.

Founded in 1988, QDMA is a national nonprofit wildlife conservation organization with nearly 35,000 members in all 50 states and several foreign countries. Membership in QDMA is open to anyone interested in better deer and better deer hunting, and committed to ethical hunting, sound deer management and the preservation of the deer-hunting heritage.
