QDMA Press Release
QDMA Honors Louisiana
Group’s Fundraising Efforts
Bogart, Ga. – Members of the Central Louisiana Branch of the Quality Deer Management Association overcame more in the past year than many similar groups have to deal with in a lifetime. You can sum it up in one word – Katrina.
As one of history’s most powerful and destructive hurricanes took aim on Louisiana, this QDMA Branch was planning for the largest conservation fundraising banquet in state history, with 1,050 tickets presold. Branch members achieved that goal; they just did it four months later in the aftermath of Katrina’s fury.
“Given what our members and their neighbors throughout the region had to endure from Katrina, we are humbled by the efforts of the Central Louisiana Branch,” said Gene Newman, QDMA Director of Branch Development. “After a 4-month postponement, they still had more than 950 people turn out for their event, which is far and away the largest banquet in state history and the largest QDMA branch banquet ever.
“We are proud to salute the Central Louisiana Branch as 2006 Fundraising Branch of the Year, and congratulate them and their Louisiana neighbors for overcoming amazing obstacles in rebuilding their homes and their lives.”
