QDMA Press Release

QDMA completes Memorandum of
Understanding with
USDA’s Farm Service Agency
Bogart, Ga. – Virginia Officer John Cobb received the inaugural QDMA Wildlife Office of the Year Award during the QDMA National Convention and Whitetail Expo, in Valley Forge, Pa. The award was created to recognize a state conservation officer whose dedication to and enthusiasm for his work makes a real difference.

“All of us at QDMA are very excited about this opportunity to work more closely with the Farm Service Agency,” said Brian Murphy, QDMA Executive Director. “The QDMA shares FSA’s commitment to habitat conservation, and this agreement strengthens QDMA’s support for important FSA programs such as the Conservation Reserve Program, which positively impacts wildlife on more than 35 million acres throughout the United States.”

The Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) is the largest public-private conservation partnership initiative in America.

Expected outcomes of the agreement include cooperative involvement in habitat conservation projects, provision of technical assistance, delivery of information and educational materials, collaboration on habitat and wildlife research, information sharing, and development of habitat enhancement techniques.

“We believe the QDMA’s expertise in deer and habitat management as well as its nationwide membership will enhance FSA’s ability to provide on-the-ground conservation benefits for all wildlife,” said John Johnson, Deputy Administrator for FSA.

Founded in 1988, QDMA is a national nonprofit wildlife conservation organization with 40,000 members in all 50 states and several foreign countries. Membership in QDMA is open to anyone interested in better deer and better deer hunting, and committed to ethical hunting, sound deer management and the preservation of the deer-hunting heritage.
